Has anyone cut an access 'hole' into the little 'seat' on the port side of the V birth? I have been wanting to open it up, but cannot decide whether to cut into the top or into the side. Seems that the area would provide some additional storage... Michael

What is under there, do you know?

It seems to me you could be getting into the unlined hull interior which may connect to the bilge allowing moisture and funky odors into your berth. I think if the manufacturer would have considered it was usable space they would have prepared it. Consult Hunter Marine before you cut.

You can look in there if you want...

When locating my shut-off valve for the water tank I looked in there. Not much space as the hull cuts back pretty sharply there. To look inside move the V-berth port side cushion. Remove the top load hatch to the port side locker. With a flashlight you can peer into the area by reaching down along the hull and shining the light back into this area. A small hand-held mirror may be helpful. As it is already open in this area you really will not notice any smells coming up from here if you cut into it - it is pretty small though. As my 33 already lists to port more storage on this side is really not a priority for me anyway. Andy

AndyK, Thanks for the hint. With regards to listing to port (mine does this also). I guess you have noticed that most of the storage locations are on the port side. I now keep my Holding tank about 1/2 full (sometimes more), to add weight to the starboard side. Helps some. Michael
