I have the opportunity to buy a used martec ellptec folding prop at a good price for our catalina 25, which has a westerbeke m2-12 inboard. I was wondering if the latest props are as good as martec claims. Thanks,

Hello Kip, We had a Martec eliptical prop on our Wilderness 30 Racer cruiser for so long we had to have it rebuilt twice! It never failed and provided fine reverse performance. BUT!! You have to use your throttle!! Be not afraid to 'put your foot into it'!! I now have the clasic eliptical prop on my Catalina 38. It works better than the fixed 2 blade it replaced. Less prop walk and better speed both F & R. Fair Winds, Dave
