I own a Mac 19 and would like to look at another that is/ has been sailed to see how a few things are supposed to be rigged and fitted. Mine has the inspection ports for the ballast tanks sealed with silicone (?). Dont know why. Also has an oversized keel cable. It has the original (?) Tohatsu 40 that has good compression and seems to run decently. Looks like holes were drilled in the l9wer stern area...again, dont know why. I did an impellar on it and would like to launch it and run it.

Hello, I am not on the Texas coast, but in California. The large circular ballast/daggerboard inspection ports on the cockpit sole are sealed with 3M 5200 to keep water out of the boat. If you need to remove them you must use a special solvent to loosen this extremely well bonded product. The holes that I believe you are referring to on the outer stern are overflow drains for the rudder steering tube compartments as they fill with water when the boat is launched. I hope this helps and good luck with your new craft. They are a fun and unusual one.
