Any issues with an oversized evaporator

Got a great $deal$ on a super cold machine w/water cooling option, it came packaged with a large horizontal evaporator. However the box is 6.5 cu ft and seems by the numbers to be better suited for a small evaporator. Before I hassle for an evaporator exchange, is there any reason why the larger unit couldn't be used. It fits and leaves enough space for what we will need.

Should be okay

Steve, If it is just marginally too big, it will cool down faster. This is done when boxes are designed for high humidity like a box used to store meats. I think it best to repost in the refrigeration forum and get the factory rep's stance. I would think it would be a no no to undersize the evaporator coil. good luck and hope it works, Mike D

Condensor is the Issue

The size of the compressor is the issue not the size of the evaperator. Matching the size of the evaperator to the comepressor is also an issue. If you post the size of the box, insulation, and compressor size I can run the numbers and let you know where you stand.

It'll be fine

It will give you more freezer space than the small evaporator. Just be carefull not to set the thermostat too high. It could freeze the entire contents.
