Some good yacht facilities in Puerto Rico

In Feb. 2002 my husband and I spent about three weeks in PR, beginning with Boqueron on the west coast. The anchorage in the bay there is good . There is a dinghy dock, laundry, internet, fuel, groceries, and restaurants. There are several anchorages on the south coast and at that time of the year we made very short hops, trying to leave very early in the morning before the wind and seas got too bad and anchoring before noon. The anchorage at the small Ponce Yacht Club is deep and we had trouble getting a good hold, so anchored in the larger bay. Salinas is a well protected hurricane hole where we anchored and felt comfortable leaving the boat while we rented a car for trips to Ponce to provision and to tour the island. There is a marina with a dinghy dock, laundry, and the rental car people will come and pick you up and take you to their site. There was no internet at the marina, but one with irregular hours in Salinas. There were 2 hardware stores, a sail loft, a boatwright and a marine store just outside the gates of the marina. There was/is a West Marine store in Fajardo on the northeast corner of the island. We did not sail up the east coast, but anchored at Puerto Patillas (nothing for yachties there) on the southeast corner before heading to Vieques. We enjoyed our time there. In March of 2003 on our return north we anchored off Cayo Icacos on the northeast corner and sailed along the north shore, but we did not stop.
