I am setting sail from Sandusky, Ohio to Vancouver, BC (home of the 2010 Winter Olympics). Well, okay, I am trailering. The move to "God's Country" is permanent. Just want to know if there are any Hunter 23 owners in the Vancouver area. - Kevin.

We are going to trailor to Cedar Point and stay at the marina for the week. Will I be alright s Sailing to Put-N-Bay? Where can I get good maps? Lot's of details to work out. Any advice you could offer would be appreciated. Thanks alot, George

Lake Erie Islands-George

Hi George, My wife and I took a trip to the Erie Islands on our H240 in June. It's a great area. We rented a cottage on Kelley Island and day sailed from a marina there. Sandusky to Put in Bay should be a nice sail for you. Charts of the area should be available at any local boat shop West Marine etc. Have a good trip.

Reply to George on Sandusky

George: The closest BOATUS/West Marine store is in downtown Sandusky on a street running parallel to the waterfront just two blocks from Sandusky Bay. You ought to find charts there. The NOAA West Lake Eries Chart will suffice for a trip to Put-in-Bay. You may prefer going to Middle Bass Island State Park Marina instead. It is quieter there and just a short walk from the ferry slip that connects Middle Bass with South Bass Is. (where Put-in-Bay is) and the mainland. The prevailing winds are from the West. But summer thunderstorms are a concern so watch the weather. - Kevin.
