Hunter 18.5 Bald Eagle/PA, ChesapeakeMD
Just sold my 240 Oday and have downsized to a Hunter 18.5. My desire is to be able to easily trailer and set up and sail by myself, something I couldn't do with the 240. It is a 1992 and hasn't been sailed much and the sails, cushions, and 3.5 motor are like new. That's the good part, but it looks like it leaks a lot by the streaked sides and it keeps getting water in the bilge even when it is not in the water. I have owned a few different boats and after a while I could tell people where trouble spots were. Any help or sites to visit on this boat would be a big help to me.

there are several ways to look for leaks. Wait till it rains and be in the boat.
Second, have someone use a hose on all the hardware with attention to the chain plates, bow pulpit and slider hatch I think. Third is to close the boat up applying tap to any ports and hatches. Then apply plastic taped over the entire companionway putting a small slice in it which to insert an air blower with tape around that and then starting that. With someone on the deck with real soapy water and a brush, brush every fitting and rub rail and look for air bubbling out as you are pressuringi the cabin and air has to escape and thus your leaks will be found.
