I've recently got a sail quote from Cheong Lee Sailmakers that is significantly lower priced than any other I've priced . . . Has anyone else had the tempation to go east for sails? . . .What was the experience like? How are the sails?

I bought a Rolly Tasker

I bought a Rolly Tasker 155 genoa for my old H25 and like it very much. This sail was made in Tailand. I'm a weekend racer and have done quite well with this sail.

Lee

Two friends have purchased Lee sails in the past two seasons. One was an Irwin 37, bought Main and 150 hank on genoa for ketch rig. The other was a Catalina 27m main with 2 reef points and furling 130 genoa. All the sails appeared reasonably well made and the respective owners are happy with the value. Lee is one of the makers I'm considering for my H 33.

Lee Sails- bought twice...

I bought from Helen at Lee for both a H34 and S2 7.9 in past 6 months. Quoted 4-5 wks and delivered exactly on time. A friend of mine tried to order for a J22, but word is that they would not cut to specific specs of J22 and tend to cut a bit full. Sails were very well sewn. I had on measurement error on one of 3 sails ordered. I ate that problem rather than sending back to China. Delivered to my door 5 days after shipping from Hong Kong. Had some trouble with some bank intercepting about 5 bucks of a bank wire transfer each time, but Helen ate the loss. Have enjoyed my sails. Suggestions.. measure 3 times. Send electronic photos of clew and boom attachments.. I had to go to a wider shackle on the main halyard, as Lee used a thick aluminum head fitting. Jim 214 244 5239
