If you have recent experience, within last year or two, anchoring in Stillwater Cove (Carmel/Pebble Beach, CA area) would appreciate your comments re depth/holding, hazards, cautions, surge, kelp, etc. Thanks in advance.

Stillwater Cove

I anchored there in 1999 (a little beyond a year or two) with my catalina 30 when I was bringing the boat down from SF to Avila. There are some moorings in there - which are private. You go in thru the middle of the entrance, heading towards the pier. But stay outside the end of the pier line - gets shallow in there - with a rocky bottom. A lot of kelp. We arrived Stillwater at 5pm - and anchored until midnite, at which time we continued our trip south (to San Simeon cove). Beautiful spot. Don't recall the surge, but believe it was somewhat protected. Michael
