We have a 1987 Hunter 31' with the u-shaped cabin dining table. Our base of the table does not drop down but with the table leaf folding out it would make an ideal queen size bed almost! Any ideas out there on where to purchase or how to convert the table so it would drop down to level of the seating??? Thanks!

Are you sure?

The table leg is probably removeable to allow you to put the table between the setees, then re arrange the cushions to make a bed. If no one has removed the leg for some time, the parts are probably corroded together, If the leg is a stainless steel pipe type, try to put upward pressure on the table while someone taps the metal socket with a hammer, or, remove the table from the leg, and try to separate the pieces, if you can remove the leg from the floor socket, do so, if not, remove the screws that hold it, then spray a WD 40 type produce on the joints to allow them to come apart, after they do come apart, clean the joints, and lightly lubricate them before re assembly. Best of luck!

That is the way we do it on our H'31.

Alica/Jim: Johns explaination is how we do it on our H'31. Our settee is not 'U' shaped like yours though. On ours, you just lift the table and remove the leg. Then you remove the table from the bulkhead. The table sits between the seats to make the bed.

That is th eway it is.

John, i wish that were the case. The base is completely wooden, no way to move it up or down it is all one piece! Does anyone know how to order collapsible table bases for boats????? Jim/Alicia

Find another boat like yours,

See if the setup is the same as you have, if not, call hunter with the hull number to determine what was fitted from new. I cannot imagine Hunter not using that space for sleeping!
