When I went to Captiva Is. my Hunter pals gave me great advice on the do-see. Will be in Ireland on Vacation and am thinking about going out to the Aran Is. on the western shore. Anybody been there and is there anything in particular to do-see. Thanks Jim McCue

Go!

By all means go! Its been ten years since I was on Inishmore, but I still have fond memories. The Arans are Ireland as it was a generation or more ago - unspoiled & unsullied. I think National Geographic had a feature on the Arans within the last year - local library would help. Make sure that you get a B & B reservation in advance. Don't plan on sailing there unless you go in a Galway Hooker (an indigenous boat, FYI) as the coast is pretty rugged!

I don't know if this is somethingI can do on a day trip?? Already booked in Galway City. PS I'll check out the hooker boats. Jim

Not a day trip

You definitely need at least one night over. There are some daytime activities (e.g visiting the stone age fort Dun Angus) but the good pub and musical activities (celidhs) take place in the evening. I'm sure the Irish tourist board must have website that would help...
