Do I need to run some antifreeze through the bilge pump this winterr? If so, how do I run it through the pump--it is sitting on a level surface and doesn't seem very efficient to just pour antifreeze around it..' Thanks for your help..

Two options

1. Pour pink stuff into a small bucket and run the pump in the bucket till it empties and has fed thru the lines. 2. Disconnect the exit hose from the pump and let it drain. If there is a check valve, disconnect the valve the same way and let it drain, too.

Option #3

Disconnect the output hose and let the pump and checkvalve drain. To be sure all of the water is out of the discharge hose, connect your inflatable dinghy pump to the hose and blow it out. Borrow a pump if you don't have one. On my h40.5, I do not have a checkvalve and the discharge is higher than the sump, so I am going to simply suck out the remaining water with a wet vacuum.

Thanks

Thanks for your help. I disconnected the bilge hose and blew out the water, then poured some antifreeze through it. Next year it will be a no-sweat event.
