Could someone tell me how many litres of anti-fouling/bottom paint I will need for our Beneteau 343? Thanks.

I'm in fresh water, use VC17, needing about 3 quarts to do my 323. and I recoat annually. I would imagine a 343 would use no more than 4 quarts. With 3 quarts.I have enough to double coat the waterline and the leading edges of the rudder and keel. It depends alot on what kind of paint you are planning to use. VC17 is quite volitile so the method of application and weather has a lot to do with the amount of surface area that can be covered.

I use a small roller pan and keep it covered with foil while applying. Others put the paint in a kethup dispenser and squirt it onto the roller. You can literally launch about 20 minutes after painting. I can get the areas where the boat sits on its cradle, and the bottom of the keel while the boat is in the slings on the Travel Lift before launch.

Thanks for the quick and detailed response. Yes, I will be using VC17 in fresh water (western end of Lake Ontario, in Ontario, Canada). Good point about the kethup dispenser.I just heard about this method yesterday from a friend who claims he saves a fair amount of paint compared to putting the paint in a roller pan.

Rule of thumb:

LOA x Beam x .85 x # of coats = Sq ft.

Quart VC17 covers 306 Sq Ft.

Have fun

For my Beneteau 361 I need 5 litres of Nautix A4 for 2 layers (3 for water line and rudder). I expect the 343 to be more or less the same.
