Don't expect good deals on VW cars in the near future. 1,100 lost cars will put a big dent in the East Coast supply.

I sure hope my Bentley wasn't on there!

Smells like a Li-Ion battery pack fire.

Total car sales last year (bad year) we’re just over 1 million in the US.
O.1% isn’t likely to make much noise.

It's actually 0.4%, at 3,965 vehicles. It has a large, local impact on the East Coast, starting with the port at which it was to arrive, in Rhode Island. VWs, Porsches, Audis, Lambos and Bentleys. Maybe others.

There's a reason they don't let you fly with Li-Ion batteries bigger than 100Wh. I will bet this was a Li-Ion fire from an electric car.

Fire on a ship has always been (and continues to be) a real threat. It is ironic given the fact that the ship is sitting in a literal ocean of water.

Black Sea!
Huh? The Felicity Ace is in the Atlantic near the Azores.

Over the entire US market, the loss will be negligible. However, in the NE market for VW brands the impact will be significant in the short run. New cars have been in short supply over all and losing 4000 cars will affect availability and price for those brands in the NE.

We were riffing on the old comedy routine below:

@JRacer Black sea reference was likely joking suggestion to tow it, "out of the environment", on fire, to where Russia has ships right now.

Thanks. I wasn't familiar with that clip. It was originally broadcast in 1991, a bit after my time.

I sometimes see it posted as if it was a real interview.

That channel has all their old skits. They would do them each week related to a topic in Australian news. Brilliant stuff.
Clark is evidently still doing stuff now.
