another reason we need a stern anchor

We were out on the Indian river fishing with my 4 year old son and my sister. My son hooked a catfish and I was trying to get it off the hook when a fish hit hard on my fishing pole and pulled it out of the holder. It flew about 20 feet before it hit the water and sank to the bottom. If only I had a stern anchor ready to go, I could have at least tried to hit the fish with it, or tried to throw it out and hook my line. Lost a new $50 fishing pole and a $5 pair of needle nose pliers (slapped them down on a cushion in frustration and then watched them bounce off in to the water). Now we have two small fishing lanyards to attach to the pole. Worst part of the experience is knowing it was probably the biggest fish we could have caught.
