Thanks Dave for your response. I have just one more question. How/where do you tap in the shore power connecters on the boat and where/how do you run the cables in the boat? thanks,

25? or 26?

Hi Connor, I thought your dad had an old 25, (which I know about) as opposed to a new 26x (which I don't). That being said, take everything I say with a grain of salt. Many people put their shore power inlet socket amidship near the galley, that way if you hook up to a fresh water inlet, your power will be right beside it. Others don't like it anywhere near the waterline and put it on the bulkhead near the main hatch, way down low where it will be out of the way. Deck mounting doesn't work well because they will tend to collect water and you can trip or stub your toes. I don't know where the switches/fuse box is on a 26X. On a 25 they are under the dinette seat and exposed to the bilge. (This is a terrible place for them, in my opinion) In a perfect world you will want to make the cable run from the inlet to the fuse/breakers invisible. You can do this by making the run between the liner and the hull. Be aware this is a harsh environment, all the connectors need to be soldered and crimped, then sealed from the elements. I hope this helps. Ol'Dave
