Well, I bought her today. Probably the only O'Day in the UK. Early 80's Model II. The previous owners' Brother bought her while in Japan so she's been around...(Old Slut, no wonder she's called Office Lady) A bit battered but sea worthy. The previous owner showed me how he rigged her and he joined the transom straight to 1/2 way down the mast, no traveler! Having passed my Advanced Sailing Certificate at 14 yrs old, so, over 30 yrs ago, I need to remember a lot!!! But I used to instruct Schoolkids in Boardsailing while in the army (Dummersee, Germany) so the theory is still there. Other than that I had 1 season Adventure Training with Army Bosans, (Old wooden things that weighed a lot and would never Plane...Thanks to this Forum I've found a website for rigging a Model I . (Thanks to all you fantastic people out there...)
I must admit that I've felt a bit adrift after leaving the Army after serving 25 yrs. But here a whole new family with the same intrest. Great...So I pick her up next Sunday, dry train on land for two days then I'm in the water with the Kids in the 2nd largest natural habour in the world. Poole, England. (The largest I believe is in Halifax, Nova Scotia).Wish me luck..
