warnings. NOAA was predicting 5 ft seas and 45 mph winds with 60-80 mph gust. I almost didn't go out. Friday had 5' swells with 10sec feq and it was not enjoyable especially with no wind. Saturday was spent with the grandson 11yrs teaching him to sail. For which I got the supreme compliment. "Grandpa you are really fun to hang out with." Next week we will teach him not to end a sentence with a preposition but for now I'll just enjoy watching the future having a great time. Went out Sunday solo despite small craft warnings. Sailed up to Malibu with less than 2 ft swell and 6-12 mph winds. A picture perfect day except for the poor people in Malibu. They did have 80 mph winds as you can see from the streaming smoke. As the wind and smoke empty into the sea it dissipates to 10-12 mph where the smoke seems to billow. There were quite a few sail boat there, like moths to a fire. I feel for the people who live there, having lived there myself and survived 2 fires.Frank
