Well, I will never leave the boat again without dropping two anchors. Things turned out alright for me in the end. I spent most of my freetime for 4 months repairing her but now I own nothing on her and she is almost like new. I learned a lot from doing the repair so that's an added plus.
I knew better than to anchor there but for some reason I did it anyway. No protection from a north wind, soft bottom with poor holding, long history of boats dragging in that area, and a front coming in no less (even if the weather report said winds topping at 15 knots I should have planned for strong winds). All in all, I don't blame my tackle, I blame myself, including the thought that if I had a second anchor out, it might have saved her.
