Chet...

Track down Bacon's. They're known for used sails but sell lots of parts on consignment. They're on the web but I don't have the link handy.

Bacon's in Annapolis

is a great place to buy used sails, used sailing hardware, and they do sell some new stuff, like Windex's, sail slugs, and line. Bacon's is NOT, however, a good place for anyone to sell their old gear. They are slow payers and sometimes just don't pay at all.

Warren...

Thanks for the consignment insight on Bacons. One does miss the old BAMS for how well it ran and the services it provided.

Bacon's

Warren is quite correct about Bacon's not being a good place to try to sell your surplus sailing gear. I had a 3-year battle with owner Dixie Bacon over a lot of gear they were supposed to sell for me. They did, and never paid me. I took the case through all the consumer advocates in Maryland and finally to the Attorney General's office. They finally paid. Anyone selling used gear would be far better off using eBay or any number of online auctions. You would avoid Bacon's 40 per cent commission, that is if you got paid at all. Also, a friend of mine who runs a major sailing magazine told me Bacon's stiffed them by placing an ad in the magazine and never paying them for it.

Bacon's is a good place to buy from. I have never tried them for selling

anything so I can't say about that. My surplus usually just goes on a shelf until someone mentions a need.

For Don Johnson

Wow, the memories of the old BAM over in that big wharehouse. A whole bunch of us used to go early and we really had some fun there. A few good bargains now and then. We always ended the day eating crabs and drinking beer in the Maritime Republic of Eastport. I miss those days....
