I'm looking to pass thru the Kent Island Narrows. The ADC chart I have looks like the channel is dredged except for the southern end as it leads into the Eastern Bay. I draw 4'3" and the stick is 53'. Is it passable? Thanks.

Should be fine

Permanent bridge says 65' vert, bascule bridge is kept open, I believe. South of narrows is not dredged because its deep and wide enough already, except the very last marker, at Buck Horn Bar. Been thru there with a Mac-22 drawing 6', but nothing to spare at low water. Take it slow and stay close to the day markers and you should be okay. Watch out for that current when you get near the narrows. Any input from larger boats than me?

No Problem

I have a '78 H30, drawing 4'3". I've through there before, and there's no problem with the channel depth. If you'r worried, go at high tide, that gives you much more room for error. And stick to the markers. The real thing to be worried about there is the current. It whips through the channel. So ideally, you want to go through at slack tide as it goes from high to low. Less current, more depth.

Chester river side is the problem

Entering or leaving from the chester river (north side) the shoals are constantly changing. you have to just follow the temp markers, they are put really close together so they arn't difficult to follow. they have dredged it several times over the years to no avail. just go slow and you won't have any problem. however on the other side of bay do not try to use the shortcut on the south end of Hart-miller Island at low tide. I nearly went hard aground last fall there at low tide in the middle of the channel and i only draw 3'6" with the board up.
