Max angle of heel
This is by no means a scientific formula....but on my boat the max heel angle when motor sailing is equal to the angle at which I do not spill my beer!!...since I have a 3GMD Yanmar, I have to throttle back some if I am drinking tall boys!!!....I generally use:1/2 the base x the height x the Sq. of the diameter of the can plus the maximum acceleration divided by 2 = Max. angle of heel!!!_____ I'm guessing 5- 10 degrees on your boat???...Depends on whether you drink beer or wine in a stem glass when motoring??Seriously-the flatter the better!
