anchorages in Rockport area

We are planning a four day cruise to the Rockport area. The first night will be in Sandy Bay, does anybody have some favorite anchorages in the area?

ROCKPORT

Bob, there are no anchorages in any of the Rockport harbors. You can take a chance and anchor in front of Front and Back Beaches, but it is very exposed from Northeast to Southeast. Also don't anchor near the beach over the 4th of July as we build a large bonfire. There is limited quest mooring available in the harbor and you can contact the harbormaster for availability.

Essex is nice!

We were just in essex and it was nice once you get into the harbor... the approach is a little hairy but worth it. Itshoals up just outside the entrance and then drops off again. Nice beaches at low tides and very quiet away from the powerboats behind castle neck. Scott
