Hi I have a 26m. My first mate (my wife) has mutiny on her mind. After hand pulling our anchor, with about 30# of kelp she informed me she is now captain and I am now first mate and she will never pull an anchor again. I would argue this but would surely lose. So here is my question. Has anyone set up an anchor windlass on a mac 26m? I would like to run a 13 or 15# with 20' of chain and 200' rode, I found a windlass on E-bay called a sea breeze rated for a 20' boat or 15# anchor. I think I can mount it to the chain locker hatch cover. I also think the chain locker is too shallow for my needs and I am considering the possibility of enlarging the locker. We don't use the v birth except for storage. Has anyone out there done anything like this? I welcome your comments

Fortress aluminum fluke ?

will a Aluminum Fluke anchor work for you? a lot lighter... but won't help with the kelp. also consider the ball and ring type of lifting device... they work by driving the boat forward (w/ ring and float attached to rode), and float runs down rode to lift the anchor to the top... works well if you have the room to manuver. a windless will probably require another batt.

Thanks all

Thanks guys, I think i will go with the breeze, feel much better knowing some of of you use it. My wife and I both took sailing lessons well before we bought our boat and she can handle her as well as I can. I am going to add a third battery just for the windlass and a few accessories, 12v coffee pot and blender. The wife still says she is now captain, can't win them all. I own a graphic shop and am going to put some custom graphics on my boat when I finish will post some pics. A safe sailor is a happy sailor Billy B
