Anchor windlass

We have a Yamaha 33 and I intend to purchase a manual Lofrans Royal anchor windlass. I am curious how others have mounted a windlass (any) and where. My intention is to use just the capstan for the rode and pull in the 33 feet of chain with anchor by hand.

I just don't like pulling up the rode portion after anchoring in seventy feet. I want manual and it could be a vertical model as I haven' t bought anything yet.

Hello Rick:

On my old 33 the windlass was manual. It was mounted to a teak board and this mounted to the deck just ahead of the anchor locker with dual anchor guides/roller units. The unit was a Maxwell or possibly your brand, it's been a while but it worked well.

The boat is still around. Her name is Scheherezade. I believe a fellow in Marina Del Rey or Long Beach has her now.
