I want to install a horizontal windlass on my Hunter 31 1985 - I think I need to install in on the anchor locker hatch - I had seen an article, I though on this site, that showed someone with a similar hatch, and how they split the hatch, reinforced on part and seemed to be what I was llooking for....but I can't find the articile again. I believe the installation as on a Hunter 35.5 or Hunter 37.5 thanks Roger

I did an installation on a Catalina 28. I used a Lewmar 700 horizontal windlass due to the shallow anchor locker.

anchor winch
installed a Dolphin 1000 on my Hunter 336, cut the anchor lid, reinforced it with a PT 2"x8" cut into the hull, use the existing locker for an extra anchor, rode & chain, ran rope & chain into a 3 1/2" PVC tube into the bottom of the boat, in front of my fresh water tank, can get 100' of rope & 30' 5/16 HT chain to crank in automatic, added a bilge pump & tru hull fitting to purge any water that gets into the PVC, battery also to run the winch & pump. Added foot switchs in the anchor locker, + cockpit switch on the wheel pedistal.
