I have just tested my center line anchor windlass installation. it's mounted about 6" behind chain locker hatch center of boat. Iam using chain rope rode. . The only modification i made was to line the offset anchor fence with a nylon material like starboard.I heated it and bent it around the curve of the fence. This is to act as a rub strip to protect the stainless steel. I have the deck switch mounted to the port of the winch where i use my knee on it and the can guide the rode into the chain locker. The chain section actually falls into the locker on it's own. Iam going to install some kind of wear plate to protect the deck from chain rub.
