Just purchased a Hunter 240. I need help on how to handle the extra anchor line. We need about 80 feet and the storage weel is to small. Any suggestions on how to solve this problem.Thank you
I have a 23.5 and have to assume the anchor wells are similar. I have 100 feet of 1/2 inch rode with 5 feet of chain attached to an 8 lb (I think) danforth look alike. the only way I have been able to get everything to fit in there is to coil the rode around the perimeter of he anchor well in the shape of a triangle. Once that is done I set the anchor down in to its resting place supports. You will have to shift the rode and chain out of the way to get it to fit down in there and still be able to close the anchor well door.Hope this helps.Jonathan CostelloHeeling Powers
Go for an Ankarolina. I have a 36 up front and a 56 aft and it works perfectly, never jams. As I sail mostly single handed, it suits me fine - once I've dropped the anchor, I know that the line will run out smothely. Just remember to secure the handles - I've lost a couple of them.
I solved this problem by putting a hauser pipe forward of the ring in the well and feeding the anchor road into the void of the bow. It works really well and clears the area when I am raising the mast. Mike
My boat is a '96 23.5. No, the pipe extends about an inch above the bottom of the well to keep surface water out. It also has a cap with a cut out for the line and chain. I have 15'of chain that also goes into the bow void so there is no wicking effect from the line. I have cheched for moisture by removing the access in the V berth and has always been dry. It is important to insure the Anchor well drain is kept from clogging.Mike
Just read something about Yale Cordage having solved a storage problem with their new 'Brait'. Looks like it might be just what you're looking for, maybe?Check out the link....
