I am on the northern Chesapeake. I had a problem last year anchoring in the basin at Chesapeake City. I added forty feet of chain and eliminated any problems. I am now looking at adding manual winch somewhere near the locker to help pull up the anchor. I saw an article about using the spinnaker halyard to pull up the anchor. This was done by buying a mountain climbing rope clutch and attaching it just before the chain and using the mast winch to "break" the anchor loose and retreive the chain. Thanks for the comeback,
Don't think I'll go the bowsprit route too much trouble I think I'll just pick up a long roller and mount it just off the Bow so I won't bang up the hull getting it up .Maybe a stern roller with anchor also.
How are the folding anchors working for you?
Gary
You must of been in some heavy stuff to not get it up, I kept my island trader on the Chesapeake for 14 years and never had that problem on this hunter the bow area is a bit tight to mount any thing so I have to play with it iam in Florida now where we can sail all year but I remember those days lolI am on the northern Chesapeake.
