Anchor Roller

I have received such good advise in the past from this forum that I am sure someone can help with this one. I am wanting to put an bow anchor roller on my 78 H33. There appears little room with the furling unit taking so much space out of a small bow to begin with. Are there any pre-manufactured options or do I have to go special built? I have seen some double roller units that straddle the furler on other boats, I would consider this as well. Any experience out there?

Bow roller

I have a 1980 Hunter 30 and installed an anchor roller some years ago. There is only a little space between the bow stem fitting and the bow chock. I was able to install a Simpson-Lawrence KBR-20 anchor roller at a slight angle just to the port side of the stem fitting. I had to move the bow chock slightly and remove the jib reef hook on that side, but it has worked well for me for the past four years. The roller was secured to the deck with a large backing plate. The chain and shaft of my 15 lb. Danforth anchor runs just under my jib reefing line. I secure the anchor in the roller by clipping the chain to a bungee secured in the bottom of the anchor locker. In heavy weather, I bring the anchor on board.Good Luck

Built mine myself

I needed a bow roller for my 335 and had no room for a traditional roller because of the furling gear, so built one myself. Could supply photographs if you of what I did if you wish.
