Both my anchor and anchor roller have holes that line up at the forward end. I want to find a large clevis pin to secure the anchor to the roller when under way, but don't know where else to look. Any ideas?

How about one of those bails on the boom you use to connect the boom vang to. I have one of those on my anchor roller.

Length and diameter would be nice.

That size clevis pin can run into $$$- but what doesn't? So, I use an eye bolt with a lanyard tied off so I don't drop it overboard. A wing nut on the other end gives good grip to remove/replace. Otherwise, I suggest a farm store where there a many items a boater can adapt for marine use- including pins.

I know, Ross, but I can't get to that part of the boat just yet. This weekend, though.

On our C22's forestay

we used to use a Ball-Lok Quick Release Pin, with a small handle with a push button in it and a small ball at the end of the shaft of the pin. It became a captive pin until you pushed the button and could remove it. This would be easier to use than a bolt with a wing nut on it. We used it on the base of the forestay because we were trailer sailors and took the mast down so often. It was easier than using a clevis pin with cotter pins or rings or bolts with wing nuts. Look in the WM catalog for clevis pins and it's on the same page. Comes in various diameters and lengths.

I don't recommend using a pin or bolt to secure the anchor. I've seen way too many cases where the anchor was hit and bent the pin and made it impossible to remove the anchor pin. Tie the anchor to the pulpit using a short length of 3/8" line. This is easier with some anchors, like the Rocna/Manson Supreme, where you can use the roll bar as a tie off point.

Lowe's has a pretty descent selection of those pins. I think they carry them for trailer hitches.

I just take a turn of the chain around the mooring bit that I have at the bow. It doesn't take much to hold it in place. A lashing of small stuf will serve nicely.

I drilled holes through the anchor roller channel so that they line up with the eye at the end of the shank. The flukes keep the anchor from lifting in the front. To pin it I took a 4'' x 1/4'' ss rod and bent one end as a stop. I drilled holes on both ends of the pin, one for a lanyard and the other for a small 1/8'' clevis pin. I can travel without having to worry about it bouncing off. I looked for a long enough push pin but not worth the money even in the surplus stores.
