I have a 1996 h26 and the anchor locker has no notch for anchor roller as the 260.Has anyone seen a reasonable installation of an anchor roller on the older 26?Thanks
Most folks seem to just add a anchor roller inplace of the one cleat on the bow but that seems to be very limiting. There is a fellow George who seems to have a very good idea and I hope to try it this season look in the H26 archive for "ANCHOR ROLLER" and you should see a link to "Bow anchor roller for H26 Posted by George Henry about Hunter 26"There are some photos showing where he added a SS Plate around the bow at the rub rail then mounted the anchor roller to it.You can also find it in the Photo Forum http://www.sailboatowners.com/upload/menu.tpl?fno=17
Depending on the size of your anchor, get a Windline Urm 1 or 2. Line it up to go starboard of your forestay and back to the slot in the locker door. Draw a line on the end closest to the locker so that you can have it cut off to match the angle at the locker. Crawl into the V birth and you will see the triangle area formed by the bow in fore of the locker. Use a piece of cardboard to make a template of the flat area that you can use for a backing plate. You should be able to figure where the roller will be above the plate so that you can have both peices to match with holes of three bolts. I had the two holes that line up on one side to match a cleat that I can tie off the anchor line.
The cleat is in the line trough of the anchor roller. You will need at least 3 bolts attaching the roller through the bow to the backing plate. I located a cleat just far enough from the side so the anchor line will fit around it. Two of the bolts pass through the cleat, roller, bow, and then through the backing plate.
