I have a h26 and currently have 1/2 inch anchor rode.

It needs replaced, should I continue using the 1/2 inch or drop down to 3/8th.

Specs for a 26 ft boat lead me to belive 3/8 would be OK, but looks small now that I have the 1/2 inch.

Ideas welcome.

Thanks.

If its not used as a hurricane anchor then 3/8 will be fine, 1/2 is a little overkill

Stick with the 1/2", its a whole lot easier to hold on to when you are raising the anchor.

I agree with Ray. Pulling the boat forward by the anchor line to get above the anchor and free it is a lot nicer on the hands with 1/2" line. I've got 150 feet of that on my H260 with about 10 ft of chain at the anchor and it works fine in even heavy weather.
