Received a certified letter from Hunter Marine, dated February 11, 2005 regarding the anchor roller on their 33 to 41, 4A, and 4D Hull IDS (mostly likely boats produced last year to current; however don't quote me, check with Hunter). For those who have not received the letter, it asks you to inspect the anchor roller edges and to sand them down so the rode does not get compromised as the anchor is deployed, or retrieved.

Where to purchase rollers? *o

Many people have asked where they can be purchased, also. This is not to remedy the situation presented here, but to replace older, sun-beaten channel rollers. It seems they would be easy to find while, in fact, the size used in an anchor channel roller is smaller than that is found on a trailer. Any ideas, anyone? If my memory serves me right, they are about 2-1/2 to 2-3/4" wide with a 3/8" diameter pin that passes thru the middle.

NOT A LIMITED PROBLEM 2003 H326 too

This is not a limited problem. MY 2002/03 Hunter 326 has cut through 2 anchor lines... I never got any notice from Hunter. I think they should replace the lines and offer a piece of teflon or plastic to glue onto the bow pulpit! You actually need a grinder to grind that steel down! and it wont look pretty...

Anchor Rollers

I gave up trying to find them in the chandlers and had them custom made by a metal fabricator guy using hard plastic (Derilin?)

Did you grind yours Ed?

I have been chewing over the same letter. Not sure that emory cloth will do it and sure don't want to make the bow an eyesore or unusable. Anyone doing this themselves or taking any action at all?

What Is It?

Is it the roller itself or the SS bail that holds the roller? RD

No Problem ....................

I noticed the same problem on the lower portion of the SS bail with my '99 H310 the first month I had her. Ground down the sharp edges to a large radius with a file and then progressively sanded the radius down to 1200 grit emery. Looks like an original installation and no more wear on the rode. Every late model hunter I have seen has the same problem with the lower part of the bail. Regards, s/v Island Hunter
