Anchor Log

0300: Wake up.

0301: Say, “Oh s**t!”

0305: Get up, look around, check water depth, and position on GPS. Set anchor alarm. Go back to berth.

0345 Get up and look around. Remove all items from tables and counters and secure as for sea.

0410 Get dressed in full foul weather gear and PFD.

0415 Square away things on deck and put chafing gear on anchor rode.

0420 Warm up engine.

0425 Run engine to take strain off rode.

0445 Secure engine. Begin cockpit anchor watch.

0530 Wind eases, eat breakfast.

0545 Return to bunk.

I anchored for clearance from the mooring field in anticipated strong NW thunderstorm winds. Blew over 30 early this morning from the south. Got to love firm sand for holding ground. That track is 1.3 nm long just from the boat sailing back and forth.

Hi Roger,
That's the only thing we were sure of during our trip, the sea doesn't give up. Right up until we got into the launch at Falmouth there was an uneasiness that one last gust would blow down on us and stir havoc. Glad to be back.

Whew! I see from the nearest buoy report that it peaked at 34 kts, almost 40 mph.

Feel you pain Roger! We were at anchor for four days during Hurricane Sandy, gps said we did 18nm at anchor swinging back and forth.
