anchor locker windlass chain slope

Checking to see if anyone has solved this problem. The Hunters for about the last 8 years have a windlass that dumps the chain into the bow locker. I find on my H356 there is not enough slope and the chain bunches up back to the windlass. I have to stand there and push it down with a boat hook.

Has anyone fixed this problem??? Sure would like to hear it.

Steve Weinstein has fixed his. Hunter gave him a "hand" drawing on how to build a tube to force the chain/rode forward into the bow. I will see if he can post some photos that he sent to me.

I to have the same problem with the 36s anchor locker. One thing that I did that helped but did not cure the problem is to cut a peice of 1/16" lexan and glue it to the sloped area. That makes the surface very smooth and allows for the chain to slide better. If we can get pictures of this tube solution it would really be interesting.

Hey Jim, same frustration here....I do the dance of one hand on the boat hook shoving down the chain, one hand on the wash down nozzle and one hand (foot) on the windlass button.

Steve Weinstein has forwarded his fix to Jim. He is having issues with figuring out how to post the photos. We will get something posted in the next few days for your review.

I "Think" I just submitted that article correctly. I just got an email from "HunterOwners.com" saying it was being 'reviewed' and I'll be notified when it's "approved".

As soon as I get the approval email, I'll be back with the direct link for those who are interested. Bear in mind that this 'fix' was for the setup on a 376 where the anchor locker in below-deck just forward and below the v-berth. From what I understand from Jim Seamans, he'd got a 356 and the situation is completely different since your "locker" is actually a "tray" in the locker accessible from the top.
