When replacing my anchor chain this year, I discovered that the drain in the locker is about 2-3 inches above the actual bottom. This allows debrix, seaweed, and saltwater to acculmulate causing rusting of the chain and eventual plugging of the drain. I could build a platform that is just above the drain hole and that would allow the chain to drain and dry, but I wonder if there is a better idea. Comments?

Did something similar

on my hunter by building a plywood platform with holes drilled every 2 inches or so apart. I weather proofed the platform with several coats of varnish. Also, I keep the chain in one of those plastic dish rack to keep the chain from transfer rust to the walls of the anchor locker.

I have often thought of fiberglassing a divider for this anchor compartment so that I could easily maintain two distinct anchor chain/rope systems.
