I flipped the switch on the anchor light (82 H27) and went out on the dock to look and admire and after about 5 seconds it went off and has not flickered since. The former owner says he replaced it less than four years ago. Can someone suggest a step by step diagnostic? Andy

I'de start at the base of the Mast...

If you have 12v there, the next step is to go to the top and check the bulb. If the bulb appears good, check for 12v. 12v= bad bulb no 12v= bad wire or bulb socket. If you don't have 12v at the base of the mast start checking back to the switch for the prob. On our 430 we had the same type problem with the steaming light, and it was just the bulb socket that just needed to be cleaned and it fixed the prob..

Yes... Bulb Socket

Same here with the steaming light. Use some very lite sandpaper or a small wire brush. Ron/KA5HZV

Check from deck

Disconnect the mast wiring after you find where all the wires go. Use an ohm meter to check from the positive, switched, anchor light conductor to the negative conductor. The nagative conductor may be common to all the mast lights. IF everything is good in the mast you will read a low resistance. If the reading is infinity Your next check is at the top of the mast.
