Anchor Chain Connecting Link

I know this has been brought up before but..... anyway I would like to add an additional 10' or so of chain to my rode. To simplify the process I was thinking of using a chain connector link (see picture below). It still has to still be able to go thru the windlass and this looked like a good method. Has anyone had any experience (good or bad) with these links? Any suggestions or recommendations?

I have used one for many years with no issues. Be sure you get a USA manufactured one and not some crappy Chinese metal (same advice for shackles). Understand the working load and breaking strength limits and make your choices accordingly. There have been some other threads about this within the last couple of week; you would be served well to search and read.

It passes the gypsy without a problem. A real link would run smoother of course, but this connecting link does not require any special handling, nor does the chain jump a link.
