I have drawn a schematic (see picture) of my boat's (O'Day 35') DC wiring and I am very puzzled how the ammeter is wired. The boat originally had only one battery bank then a second was added along with Split Charge Diodes (before I bought it). It looks to me like the ammeter is wired wrong. It seems to be in parallel with the split charge diodes. The wires to the ammeter in the cockpit are fairly heavy, probably #10 Gauge so I think before the second bank was added all of the alternator current went through the ammeter but now it would seems to me to be split between the SPDs and the ammeter. It hasn't ever seem to work properly; the needle barely moves. Do you think it is wired correctly? Thanks
