Not Bogus - pretty close
I don't think it was bogus. They were closing at what, 16kts? From one camera angle, it looked like they had room, but on the Virtual Eye, I think it was only half a boatlength before Alinghi altered course. In a Port/Stbd crossing, starboard only has to 'think' they were too close to win the protest. Besides, if NZ ducked more, that would have brought their stern closer. I think it was a good call, even if it took the team I was rooting for out of the game.Amazing how they almost came back. Do you think they saw the windshift before Alinghi, or were they just getting ready to do their turn and happened to have the jib ready as the wind shifted?Kevin
