aluminum mast and boom

I'm looking at a 30ft catalina that was trucked from California and is very clean, except for corrosion on the boom and mast. I expect it came from the salt water. Is this just cosmetic? How would one go about handling this?Thanks.

How much corrosion? Just light pitting> or a

white powder or could you get lost in the holes? can you pull some of the hardware and inspect the areas underneath. Total area of damage counts.
