Try Triple M Plastic Products

I just replaced the holding tank on my Hunter 40.5. A number of us with this model boat have used Triple M Plastic Products, and they did excellent work in building the tank. Only problem is that the tank was a custom job, so it took a few months to get it in. I preplanned and did the swap out before I had a leak. Here is there info: Triple M Plastic Products Inc PO Box 319 3 Warrens Way West Kennebunk Maine 04094 Office phone (207) 985-4705 Fax (207) 985-8012

Aluminum Holding Tanks??

Did Hunter really use aluminum for some holding tanks?? That is like smoking when you have a leaky propane system - a sure way of blowing things up!

Try Ronco.

Literally hundreds of sizes and shapes to fit almost any requirement. And significantly cheaper than custom made. Nice people to deal with. They will custom fit your connectors and vent wherever you need them on the tank that you select. See Related Link. Hey DJ! Lots of manufacturers used aluminum for holding tanks. Problem is longevity. Some of our Hunters look like new but mine is 30 years old. It did have an aluminum tank and now has a Ronco. Still has three other 50 gallon aluminum tanks, two for water and one for diesel. And yep, those will someday need replaced.

Aluminum holding tanks were very common pre 1990

And some builders still use aluminum or stainless--which is no less vulnerable to urine than aluminum--in the mistaken belief that metal is more durable than plastic. And compared to the cheapest thin plastic tanks, it can be. Ronco Plastics is your best source for a rotomolded tank. However, if you're determined that the new one HAS to be in the same space as the existing one, but Ronco doesn't have a mold to fit...and are willing to pay for a custom tank, Triple M Plastics is an excellent source.

Not too bad

The cost of the tank was around $300 from Triple M. It was funny as the shipping was actually more then the tank. The tank was sent by the U.S. Postal Service and that was a little then $300 as they had to send it from Maine to California. Triple M said they did a cost comparison and it was cheaper that way then using UPS. What helped us was I was about the 4th or 5th tank they did and they had the pattern. I was told by the first guy that had it done, that Hunter was good about giving him the dimensions, but he also brought over his original tank. But it seems like we all paid about the same price for our tanks regardless. Our tank was 11 years old when I pulled it and installed the new tank. At the same time, thanks to an error by Peggy the Headmistress, I switched from a WEMA guage to an exterior sensor for the tank. She got me a good deal on the sensor and panel. And even though our tank looked to be in good shape, the odor that we had went away, and we have not had a head odor on the boat since.

ALUMINUM TANKS

Thanks for the response. I have decided to make a mold and have a tank rotomolded. If you know of anyone looking for similar tanks I can have them made at a resonable price. Thanks

What size tank

Hi I just pulled the tank out of my Hunter Vision 32 over the weekend. It was a job. I'm also looking for a plastic tank and would like to know what size you are having made. Thanks

Denny The tank that I have is a 25 gallon. But I ahve contacted a mold maker and if I knew your dimensions we could probably duplicate your tank. If you would like you can call me at 800-253-0115 x 106 Thanks Rick
