When rewiring the engine harness on my Catalina 28 I ran the alternator output directly to Battery bank 1 (using bank 1 all the time, bank 2 for reserve).
I have 100 watts of solar with a Morningstar Duo wired to both banks - it works so well I have not gotten around to hooking up the ACR. I have the Duo set for 90/10 and it has been running the refrigerator and keeping the batteries charged for a couple weeks now.
Today while changing engine filters and bleeding the fuel system I first used Bank 1, later in the day used Bank 2.
While starting and running on Bank 1 the panel voltmeter showed about 12 volts. Minutes later when I started and ran on Bank 2 the panel voltmeter showed 14 volts.
In both cases the alternator is wired to Battery bank 1.
Is this a problem? Should I have this wired differently or make installing the ACR a priority?
