I am a fan of Bedlast or similar bedding compounds. Being in Grenada, vacant stares are the answer to any question about most products in the marine stores.
So; They don't have Bedlast, but they do have International brand seam compound, above the water use. I want to rebed ports and hatches, which are of course above the waterline, but even though I've worked with the seam compound before, I am not sure it would be a suitable alternative.
Please do not suggest other products, I'm just interested in an opinion on this question, preferably from a wood boat owner or builder, or yard professional.
Thanks

I guess you missed the part where we're in Grenada, you know, the one in the West Indies, not LA or WI.
No bedding compound, no butyl tape; limited options.
Thanks anyway, that's why I didn't ask for other products, just an opinion on what IS available.

Kuhl's Bedlast is long gone as far as I know. I have not seen a can of that for perhaps 25 years. Try Dolfinite or Interlux also has a seam bedding compound. Still I think you'll be unlikely to find either of those in Granada..

Maine Sail,
Thanks for getting back to me here. I did find the old style International (Interlux?) seam compound; do you think it would work as an alternative?

At around $60.00 for a USPS Priority package, plus customs, agent's fees and transportation on the island AND the 3 to 4 weeks it took for the last package to arrive, it kinda makes a small ticket item a bit expensive and time consuming. FedEx or the others are 5 to 6 times more expensive.
Tim, you've always been helpful in the past, but this time, not so much.
It was a simple question, but I guess that I'm just NOT going to get a simple answer.

Unless you need it immediately, why not have it shipped with the stuff I am sending you? I would be happy to include a roll with the other stuff.
