This year I had to leave the big boat on the hard. I knew I would miss sailing so I put a small boat on a small lake close to the house. I had almost forgot how much fun these boats were. In my youth I sailed a Laser-like boat, a Force Five. The picture is of two eighty-two year old sailors in their Highlander. That boat is a 1956-57 and has been raced most of its life. I am taking the picture from my own 1976 Highlander(#520). It has been a great summer of sailing. There is one thing that I miss about my H37C on Lake Erie however. And that is a tack that lasts more that ten minutes. :)

10 minute tacks

I imagine sailing is fun no matter how big the boat. I had my H170 on Lake Erie three times this summer. It's nice to stay on one tack for awhile. I'm usually sailing on the Maumee River and those tacks don't last much over five minutes. It's one of the reasons that my wife wants to go out on the lake when ever we can. What lake have you been sailing on this summer? Jerry
