I learned a new lesson yesterday while attempting to bring the boat around to have the holding tank pumped. While drifting out of the slip, I discovered I had lots of engine but no transmission. I did a quick anchor drop, grateful that I had straightened the anchor retaining pin in the Spring, and discovered that there was a gap between shaft and tranmission of some significance, as all four bolts, nuts and star washers had managed to disassemble themselves. There was no notable difference in vibration, blah, blah. Bilge diving revealed three out of four assemblies, enough to make it into the slipway for pumping the tank, and back into the slip. Today, I will be installing all new parts, grateful that I can, and adding one more thing to check before launch and periodically during the season. See you at the rOnDAYvous!
