Hi all and needing your help.
Allstate sent me a offer to save me over $300.00 on my 2 new cars each 6 months and they said send them info on Sailboat,RV and our home for a price.
I have Progressive on everything right now and wondering if any good or bad with allstate
and no complaints with Progressive.

While trying not to imply any criticism of the options you mention Nick, I will offer one obvious suggestion as another Florda car/home/boat owner.

Carefully research the ratings of various underwriters paying close attention to the A M Best guide, Demoteck financial stability guide, etc... Which offer objective data rather than the personal rants and experiences of a few satisfied or dissatisfied claimants.

As a general rule, I have found the premium charges increase with the quality of the underwriter making decisions based solely on price a bad value. I always cringe when reading someone proudly exclaim that company x saved me $$$ on my annual premium.

Here in Louisiana, Allstate was more expensive on everything I asked to have quoted. I have Progressive on boat.

After 16 years with Progressive I received my renewal papers with a huge increase in premium. I called and asked then what was the reason and they gave me a story about rates in Florida but indicated I was under an old grandfathered plan and that currently they had new plans with credits and discounts. I called my agent and asked to get some quotes from "A" companies including Progressive. Their bid came just a few dollars short of the rate increase they had asked for. Bye, bye Flo. I got at least an introductory rate for one year with another prime company and I'm saving close to $750. I have always kept my boat insurance with BoatUS as have been leery of auto insurers which may have no clue of boaters needs beyond small power runabouts. "No I do not want to insure a trailer". I want coverage that can protect me in case of a spill, against undue salvage claims and in International waters. I like to be able to call my insurer and request a quote for an endorsement to take the boat to Mexico or the Bahamas for a couple of months. I know auto insurers have upped their marine game but I wonder how far they might still be behind the curve. I think Allstate is as good as they come for residential but I would do a lot more research before dumping all my needs with anyone company. The "come on" fabulous rates are common and then come the hikes.

I am thinking of going with the Auto's with Allstate because they way cheaper but they are
almost even with the boat and RV but Progressive has this Name Storm added deductable of another 10% and any storm that we get is going be named so if my boat gets destroyed
by a storm I will get hit with about another $10,000 deductable and Allstate is saying they
do not have this additional deductable.
Some one told me to check auto prices every few years and well Progressive has gone up
since we have moved here in 2008.
Allstate will be sending me the RV and boat paper work but pretty much switching the auto's to Allstate, the RV prices have increased also with progressive.

I have never had a claim with my sailboat or RV except a flat with the RV,but know a few
have had claims on their sailboat with Progressive and no complaints.

I have home, auto and RV with State Farm and so far, so good. I just renewed my boat insurance with BoatUS which is now being underwritten by GEICO. I am not pleased with this change but BoatUS says it is the same coverage I have always had. I hope I never have to make a claim.

Hello,
I have had Allstate boat insurance for over 10 years. My only claim was after hurricane Sandy. My boat was on my mooring an another vessel dragged down her. Broken lifelines, broken stanchion, damaged toe rail, damaged gel coat. Allstate was great to deal with. I sent them an estimate, they sent me a large check. My rates have not gone up.

Lastly, Allstate has not asked me for a survey on any of the 3 boats I have had insured with them. They write the policy for stated value.
