My 1990 Pearson 34-2 came with an Alder Barbour Cold Machine unit when I purchased it in 2000. Most likely installed around 1990. This season it failed and, I am told, the compressor is frozen. The power supply has been checked and is OK. A refrig repair person said to get a new compressor and power supply, change the refrigerant and I would be OK. A-B says, "NO." Buy and install a complete new unit. It will be better and easier, A-B claims. Of these 2 options, which way should I go? Should I consider other units than A-B? Why? Thanks for your reply.
