Aloha Ka'kou!
This weekend I gave up on repairing our Kenyon two burner pressurized
alcohol cook stove. I really liked that stove. It cooked very nicely
when it worked.
About a year and a half ago one of the burners was acting up so I
decided to rebuild it. I went to West Marine and purchased two
rebuild kits and successfuly rebuilt the recalcitrant burner. That's
where I went wrong. I decided to rebuild the other one while I was at
it. The second burner didn't come off as easily as the first and I
applied too much torque to the fitting. I twisted the copper tube
connecting the burner to the tank off flush with the burner fitting.
I ordered a new tube and burner fitting from West Marine and, last
weekend, tried to repair the damage. After exhausting my patience and
the limits of my tools and experience, I was unable to remove the old
tube from the tank fitting. Now, I know that the tube can be drilled
out carefuly and the threads cleaned up and that the repair can be
completed but I am done with it.
I went to West Marine and bought a new stove and installed it in a few
minutes. I therefore offer my old stove with spare burner, assorted
repair parts and burner repair kit along with the feed tube and burner
fitting to anyone who wants it. I packed it in the box from the new
stove. All you have to do is tell me you want it and be willing to
pay for the shipping and its yours. This stove will drop right in to
the stove pan on the Vega or can be mounted on the counter top. It is
a self-contained alcohol burning unit that works much like a Coleman
or other pressurized gasoline stove but much safer as it is an alcohol
burner.
